As a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) you can take advantage of an insurance policy which has been specifically designed for the Association to offer comprehensive cover for you, your business, and your clients.

Reflexology Insurance in detail

What is covered?

The standard AoR insurance cover is for public liability insurance, products liability insurance and Treatment risks cover for Reflexology and some other treatments (please refer to the Approved Therapies list below):

  • Public liability insurance Accidental injury to members of the public or accidental damage to their property.

    £5,000,000 any one claim.
  • Products liability insurance Accidental injury or accidental damage to property resulting from products supplied in connection with treatment of a client.

    £5,000,000 for any one period of insurance.
  • Treatment risks cover on selected therapies £5,000,000 - Cover is provided to protect clients in the course of their treatments. Cover includes breach of professional duty consequent upon any neglect, error, or omission in providing advice, treatment, or therapy.
    This cover is only included on selected therapies. Please check your cover carefully.
  • Business equipment insurance £1,000 cover – higher limits are available. Cover is provided automatically for all types of business equipment used by the therapist including laptops, specialist chairs, mobile phones, books.

What are the costs?

Our cover starts from as little as £63.94 and the cost is calculated on the therapies which you practice; our dedicated scheme allows you to tailor your cover depending on the specific therapies you practice to ensure you get the best value cover, if you are unsure then please contact us.

  • Student GAP insurance If you have completed your studies but are in the process of obtaining your qualification certificate, you can take out GAP insurance for just £10. This covers you for up to 12 weeks so you can immediately continue to practise and provide treatments for any clients. Once your qualification certificate is received you can apply for full membership with the AoR and upgrade your insurance cover to an annual policy.

Extensions of cover

You can optionally extend your therapist’s liability policy to provide additional business insurances:

  • Business equipment cover Business equipment, including computers, can be increased to £5,000 for an additional cost of £72.60 or you can increase to £10,000 for £121. Cover is provided on an all risks basis, anywhere in Europe.
  • Personal accident cover Provides capital benefits of either £10,000 or £20,000 in the event of accidental death or personal injury.
    Temporary total disablement of either £100 or £200 per week - payable for 104 weeks following an accident.
    Deferment period is 7 days.

    Additional cost: either £33 or £66
  • Business interruption cover Additional costs incurred as a result of loss or damage to your business equipment - up to £10,000 (subject to business equipment being insured under same policy and a claim being accepted).
    Includes claims following loss or damage at members premises (or homes) subject to insurance cover being in force for the main loss.

    Additional cost: £33
  • Employers liability cover Limit of indemnity £10,000,000
    Wage roll basis up to £20,000 per annum

    Additional cost: £61

  • Cover is provided for the policyholder to practice at demonstrations and talks, but no cover is afforded for members of the public to practice at such events.

  • The policy includes cover for the sale, supply, or prescription of products when directly related to a treatment provided to a client. All other sale of products is excluded.

  • Yes, this is covered.

  • Yes, cover is provided, but claims arising from any condition directly caused by or associated with this condition are excluded.

  • Yes, this is covered.

  • Cover is on a claims occurring wording so if cover was in force at the time of the incident insurers will in accordance with the policy terms and conditions deal with the claim.

  • Cover is for the UK and 90 days abroad (providing you are a UK resident, with a UK home address and UK bank account). All claims made are under UK jurisdiction.

  • The Alan Boswell Group complementary therapy scheme has approved over 150 different types of therapies already approved by underwriters, including all forms of massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, Doula work, manicures, pedicures, Reiki, hairdressing, and beauty therapies.   • Yes, this is automatically included under the public liability section. However, you must be qualified in the therapy being taught and/or have at least two years current practising experience.
