Do you offer breakdown cover for my horsebox?

Yes, we can offer a special breakdown service which will include repatriation of horses. This would not be offered by a normal breakdown policy.

If a horse is injured while it’s in my care, will I be covered?

No. The self-drive hire policy does not extend to include liability cover for horses in your care, custody, or control. We are, however, able to offer a separate policy specially designed for this cover.

Can I hire my horsebox to professional jockeys, horse trainers, and the like?

Yes. Unlike other policies, our insurers won’t restrict cover for professionals in the equestrian industry.

Can I offer a horsebox for hire with a driver?

Yes. We can include ‘hire and reward’ cover so you can drive your customers and their horses to their destination.

Am I covered if a horse damages the vehicle?

Yes. Generally you’ll find most motor policies will exclude cover for damage by livestock. We include this cover as standard.

Horsebox hire insurance in detail

We can arrange bespoke cover for horsebox owners, either for single vehicles or large fleets, including cover for damage caused by livestock, which is normally excluded by insurers.

We can also arrange a specialist breakdown service that includes full horse repatriation if needed. Plus, you won’t need to call us or complete an online form to log every hire you arrange; we’ll give you a detailed list of hirer criteria so you’ll be able to decide if your customer qualifies.

We’ll provide you with fully comprehensive annual insurance for your vehicle. This will cover the vehicle(s) at all times whether they’re on or off-hire.

No mileage limitations

Your annual premium will cover as many hires as you like, with no limitations on mileage.

Comprehensive cover

Unlike other insurers our policy will cover your vehicle for theft by the hirer and, crucially, it includes damage by livestock.

Fire damage cover

Additional cover can be included for fire damage caused by cooking and heating risks if you have cooking or heating facilities in your horsebox.
